Colorfest 2012
It was our first time showing Our Rock House at an art show. It was a great success, I’d say. We sold a few things, we learned A LOT and met some really great people.
We started out keeping tabs of a few comments like, how many times we got complimented on our awesome business cards designed by this gal, how many times people commented on the really great view we had overlooking the mountain, comments on our display (one guy asked if we were selling chalkboards, so we may have overdone it with the chalkboard paint. ha!) and finally how many compliments we got on our creations. We lost count, but we hope compliments on our goods won out!
The shop will be closed for a few days so that we can update it a bit, but be sure to check back, there are still some great items in there and a few new things!
We hope your weekend was also a smashing success!

Happy Friday, all. What are you all doing this weekend?
We are going to be setting up shop at a local arts and crafts show, Colorfest in Mentone. We really love selling at these small local shows… setting up the booth, meeting new people and being inspired by the other artist and craftsmen. It’s all so good. I hope this is something we continue to do every year.
So if you happen to be close by, come and see us!

Last weekend.
Last weekend, Megan found a baby turtle in her popcorn. We’ve put this little guy into a shadowbox, lined with metalic scrapbook paper, hooked up with a string of Christmas lights set to the disco setting and we have him set up for auction on Ebay. We’re thinking he’s going to be quite the money maker.
Lies, all lies.
Also last weekend, we cleaned out our “Finished Projects” box. It was quite full, full of knits and rings and beads and bottle stoppers. Check the Etsy shop (here) for new listings all this week. Or ‘Like’ our Facebook page (here) to get shop and blog updates all in one spot.
Good day!

It’s The World’s Longest Yard Sale time! We’re having fun sitting on our front porch, making money and talking to strangers!
1. Signs ‘before’.
2. Sign ‘after’.
3. De-Cluttering = Money. Good trade, I’d say.
4 & 5. The Etsy shop in the front yard.
6. Anyone need a 12-string?
Happy weekend!

1. Kaylon makes the best pancakes, super thin and crepe-like.
2. Kaylon’s mom grows the best flowers. In the yard there are lilies and irises and gladiolas and hydrangeas aplenty.

Also there are some new items in the shop. We’re trying to add new items every weekend so if you’re interested be sure to take a look every now and then.

This weekend, we’re going to
-play more wiffle ball in the orchard
-sleep in
-bake our weekly loaf of bread
-will our tomatoes to ripen while we continue to feast on greens and beans
-make more items to stock the shop
-grab a sweater and a mug of tea and spend the cool evenings outside (only a week and a half left of Spring!)
What are you up to this weekend?

Over the weekend, we gathered all of our little projects that keep us covered in sawdust, wrapped in yarn, splattered with paint and creatively content. Kaylon is in and out of the workshop throughout the day and Megan always has a few knitting projects going at arms reach. So with a basket-full of finished pieces we updated the Etsy shop. Have yourself a look-see…

We just wanted to say a quick THANKS! to our dear friend Taylor for doing a sweet little post on her blog yesterday about our Etsy shop, Our Rock House [read it here]. We sent her some of Kaylon’s rings and we’re so happy she liked them, gave them as gifts and spread the love! Thanks again, Taylor!
Check out Taylor’s awesome designs and illustrations on her website, Applegang. She’s a pretty talented little lady, don’t you think?

I wake up, put on my boots and button down and I head to the shop.
I grab a chunk of wood and make a few of these…

After sawing, drill pressing, sanding, staining and polishing, I look at the details. Is the shape right? Do the stain and paint blend? Have I sanded smooth enough? Is the lacquer right? It’s a satisfying process, challenging and meditative. When I feel they’re right I bring them in and post them in the Etsy shop.
You can check them out, as well as our other hand-mades, here.

Our Rock House {Beautifully made by Kaylon’s mum Mellanie.}
Kaylon and I have about a dozen almost finished projects out in the workshop that should be added to the shop in the next coming weeks, so be on the lookout.
1 note &
Did you know we had an Etsy shop? We do! It’s called Our Rock House.
While THE rock house next door (Kaylon’s Grandmother’s house) isn’t really OUR rock house, the name Our Rock House was kind of catchy so that’s where that came from. Are you confused yet? Here’s a diagram:

The name Our Rock House for the shop is now even more appropriate because there are some shop goods coming out of that house next door!!! Kaylon’s mum (who also resides in THE rock house) made a backpack!!! And put it in the shop!!! Get excited!!! It’s beautiful!!!

There are also some knit baggies in the shop knitted by yours truly (Me, Megan).

So, what I’m trying to say is… Go check it out! Here.
